Liposuction

Liposuction is the procedure by which excess fat is removed from a certain portion of the body and cannot be removed by diet and / or physical activity.

Liposuction is not a method of treating obesity but a method of modeling excess fat in certain areas.

If you are diabetic, smoker, if you have heart, liver, or lung kidney diseases, family risk of thromboembolism then the risks of surgery are increased.

The ideal candidate for liposuction

  • It is close to the ideal weight
  • Wishes to remove specific areas that cannot be removed by diet and / or physical activities
  • The weight is stable over the last 6 months
  • Skin tone and elasticity are good
  • Does not show fallen skin or abdominal distention
  • Does not show pronounced stretches
  • Has realistic expectations
  • It is emotionally stable
  • Understands the risks of intervention

Technology

Surgery can be performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia potentiated intravenously and lasts for an average of 2 hours. The adipose depots to be removed are marked by a preoperative drawing then infiltrated with a solution of cold adrenaline saline (Klein solution). After a waiting period of 20 minutes, it is possible to start the procedure of aspiration of the modified fat by the introduced solution using cannula connected to a surgical vacuum cleaner. The amount of fat extracted varies depending on the lipoaspirated surface, and in order not to create imbalances of the body in the case of multiple deposits, it is preferable to solve them step by step.

Postoperatively you will stay in the clinic for 24 hours after which you can go home preferably with someone.

It is important to know that operated areas will become postoperatively livid, swollen, moderately painful. Also, rest is required for one week postoperatively, depending on the area operated and the degree of pain tolerance of each person.

Particularly important is the wearing of special elastic clothing (garments: trousers, stomach) from the moment of the surgery and another 2-3 weeks postoperatively. Its purpose is to prevent (by permanent compression) the accumulation of blood or serum in the operated areas, causing the tegument to stick to the underside. At 6 weeks, it is recommended to start a progressive massage at the level of the operating areas that will soften surfaces.

It is also important to know that sometimes fat extracted by liposuction can be used as filling material for other areas (lips, cheekbones, buttocks, calves, etc.)
