Lipoaspiration

Lipoaspiration

Lipoaspiration is the procedure by which an excess of fat is removed in a certain part of the body and cannot be removed by diet and physical activity.

Lipoaspiration is not a method of treating obesity but a method of modeling excess fat in certain areas.

If you are a diabetic, smoker, have heart disease, liver or lung disease, a family history of thrombolysis, then the risks of intervention are high.

The ideal candidate for liposuction

  • It is close to the ideal weight
  • It wants the removal of specific areas that by diet and physical activities cannot be removed
  • Weight is stable over the last 6 months
  • The tone and elasticity of the skin are good
  • It does not show a fall or abdominal fate
  • Does not show marked stretch marks
  • It has realistic expectations
  • It is emotionally stable
  • Understands the risks of intervention

Technology

The surgery can be performed under general anesthesia or under local potentiated intravenous anesthesia and lasts on average 2 hours. The fat deposits to be removed are marked with a preoperative drawing, then infiltrated with a cold adrenaline saline solution (Klein solution). After a waiting period of 20 minutes, the fat suction procedure modified by the solution introduced can be started, using cannulas connected to a surgical vacuum cleaner. The amount of fat extracted varies depending on the liposuction surface, and in order not to produce imbalances of the body in the case of multiple deposits, it is preferred to solve them stepwise.

Postoperative you will stay in the clinic for 24 hours and then you can go home preferably with someone.

It is important to know that the areas operated by the liposuction method will become postoperative equimotic (veins), swollen, moderately painful. Also, the relative rest is required approximately one week postoperative, depending on the surface operated and the degree of pain tolerance of each person.

Particularly important is the wearing of special elastic garments (garments: pants, tummy tuck) starting from the end of the operation and 2-3 weeks postoperative. Its purpose is to prevent (by permanent compression) the accumulation of blood or serosities in the operated areas, causing the tegument to stick evenly to the layer below. At 6 weeks it is recommended to start a progressive massage at the level of the operated areas, which will soften and smooth the respective surfaces.

It is also important to know that sometimes the fat extracted by liposuction can be used as a filling material for other areas (lips, cheeks, buttocks, legs, etc.).
